Doug Gallacher – Drums & Percussion
Doug Gallacher was born and bred in Dubbo NSW. Doug moved to Sydney in his early twenty’s to pursue his passion for percussion, he joined various cover bands and soon found himself a highly sought after session musician. To date Doug has worked on over 300 albums and associated projects including countless commercials, movie soundtracks and TV themes.
His dedication and immense talent caught the attention of Jeff Harvey who instantly placed Doug behind the drum kit on the Midday Show on Channel 9. Doug remained with the Jeff Harvey Band for over twenty years. In that time he also performed in The Carols in the Domain (15years), NSW School Spectacular (22years), the Golden Guitar Awards, the Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games, the Opening of the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Entertainment Centre & Bi-Centennial concert. Doug has been involved with many Theatre Productions including Hello Dolly, Menopause the Musical, Respect the Musical, Aladdin, Cinderella & They’re Playing Our Song.
During this time Doug also travelled extensively throughout Australia and overseas with various touring acts including Adam Harvey, Adam Brand, Albert Lee / Vince Gill, Alan Caswell, B. B. King, Crossfire, David Helfgott, Drifters, Don Burrows, Don Spencer (Play School ), Dusty Springfield, Felicity Urquhart, Feral Swing Katz, The Four Tops, Graeme Connors, Garth Brooks, Gene Pitney, Glen Frey (The Eagles ), Gina Jefferies, James Blundell, James Morrison, John Denver, John Farnham, John Williamson, Judith Durham and The Seekers, Julie Anthony, Michael Crawford, Neil Sedaka, Olivia Newton John, Peter Allen ( 15 years ), Peggy Lee, Randy Brecker, Randy Crawford, Reg Lindsay, Ricky May, Rick Price, Rhonda Birchmore, Shirley McLaine, Cliff Richard, Slim Dusty ( 20 Albums ), Supremes, Temptations, Tom Jones, The Wiggles, Tiny Tim, Trisha Yearwood, Tommy Emmanuel, The Monkees, & Troy Cassar Daley.
Doug moved from Sydney to Brisbane in January 2006 to enjoy a quieter life however this was short lived as he was quickly recognized by Mick Martin and now regularly gigs with The Smokin’ Crawdads in and around South East & Central Queensland.
